Top those Cupcakes off with this frosting. It is by far my favorite. Not too soft, but not too hard. Add sprinkles right away after decorating if you choose:
The Best Buttercream Frosting (especially for cupcakes and cakes)
½ Cup Shortening
½ Cup unsalted Sweet Cream (Butter), softened
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
4 cups Confectioner’s Sugar
2 Tablespoons Milk
- In mixer, cream shortening, butter, vanilla and almond extracts. Make sure fully creamed
- Mix in Confectioner’s sugar one cup at a time.
- Mix in milk and continue to mix until light and fluffy ( at least an additional 2 minutes)
- Keep frosting covered until use or store in refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before use.
